Radiation according to § 4 SGB IV is a term from German social security law and refers to the fact that in the event of a temporary relocation (posting / business trip) of the place of employment of an employee from Germany to a foreign country, the German legal provisions regarding compulsory insurance and entitlement to insurance continue to apply. If the legal requirements for the application of the German legal provisions exist, these "radiate" abroad.
For destinations outside the EU/EFTA states and the third countries with which the Federal Republic of Germany holds a social security agreement, an application is made to determine a posting in the sense of radiation (§ 4 para. 1SGB IV).
