China: Online visa application
10/04/2019 12:05

Hello,

in future a Chinese visa application will be made through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center portal: https://www.visaforchina.org. The completed visa application will be signed by the traveler and submitted as before with all documents to the Chinese Konsular Provider.

By the beginning of May 2019, there will be a transitional period in which visa applications will be accepted without entry into the China Konsular Provider's portal.

With the German Visa and Consular Society, you can continue to apply for your visa application in the usual way. They use all the advantages of the electronic creation of the visa application, as well as the storage of the visa-relevant information in privacy-protected environment. Take advantage of the many advantages of the German Visa and Consular Society, such as the automatic choice of the correct place of delivery, the visa expiration reminder service and the digital passport photo service.

During the transitional period, we will maintain the current process. We will inform you about the change at an early stage.

The mess around the A1 certificate - necessary or not?
02/04/2019 12:06

Hello,

applying for and holding A1 certificates is a laborious process for HR departments, travelers and the authorities. Affected and associations have auditioned at the EU and achieved that there is an agreement between the EU Parliament, the EU leaders and the European Commission, that the effort should be reduced.

This has led to headlines that give the impression that an A1 certification is no longer necessary.

It is not so. The agreement is a declaration of intent and a mandate to seek another way of documenting social security status for missions within the EU / EFTA States. Details are not yet known. This does not affect the obligation to document social security status when traveling to third countries with which Germany has concluded a social security agreement.
