Tighter controls on flights to the USA
26/10/2017 07:00

Passengers with destination US have to follow new regulations. Several airlines, including Lufthansa, are stepping up controls. They implement instructions from the US authorities.

At the request of the American authorities, the airlines Lufthansa, Air France, Cathay Pacific, EgyptAir and Emirates begin today with new, so-called safety interviews of all passengers of flights with the goal USA. This was shared by the companies.

The German Lufthansa said that the new regulations had been set by the US traffic safety authority TSA, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Homeland Security. In addition to the control of electronic devices, travelers to the US might also have to expect "short interviews at check-in, document control or the gate". Swiss, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, has asked its passengers to check in at least 90 minutes before departure.

Air France will start the interviews at Orly airport in Paris tomorrow. On November 2nd, they will also be present at Charles de Gaulle airport. All passengers will be given a questionnaire.
