The Japanese government plans to allow German citizens visa-free entry from October 11, 2022. This applies to business, tourist and transit travel.

The high demand, especially for Schengen visas, is currently leading to longer waiting and processing times at the German consulate than usual.

Please apply for your visa in good time. You can apply as early as six months before your travel date.
