According to the latest communication, the 15-day visa-free entry option for citizens of twelve countries has been extended until the end of 2025. Visitors from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg do not require a visa until December 31st, 2025; a passport is sufficient. Persons who do not meet the requirements for visa-free entry must still apply for a visa before entering China. We recommend all travelers to check in advance in any case. In connection with the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, France has announced increased border police and customs controls at its national borders with Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy and Spain as well as at all air and sea borders between May 1 and October 31, 2024 (source: Federal Foreign Office).
